IDENTIITY FOR ART NOU 2022
Art Nou is an emerging art festival of Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, which presents an extensive programme of exhibitions and activities by young creators in independent galleries and spaces, with the aim of discovering the work of young artists, discovering and making visible new ways of doing art, and providing a suitable framework for collaboration between young artists and the participating galleries and spaces, making Barcelona and L'Hospitalet the epicentre of young art during the summer months.
This year is the 11th edition, the second year that it has been open to the public for the selection of the graphic design of its different applications.
On this occasion, the winner was Blanca Gómez Terán, whose graphic design we could see in the usual digital and printed media (web, networks, newsletter, programme card, tote bag, etc.) and on the streets of Barcelona with banners, thanks to the support of the Eixample district of the Barcelona city council, and at the Santa Eulalia metro exit, thanks to the support of the L'Hospitalet city council (cultural district).

The process of working on the graphic identity began with a request to people linked to Barcelona through affection, habitation and work. The request was as follows:
Numerologically 2022 adds up to 6, which implies cryptic meanings related to Venus and desire, but at the same time with the idea of the A and B sides of things; "Tell me 6 words, ideas or concepts that come to you when you read VERANO-BARCELONA, just as they come to you, vomit mode".
From the many words received, six were selected (crystal, tear, mucus, acid, sensuality, dawn) which gave rise to the chromatic, typographic and formal choice. The main typography of Art Nou 2022 is a combination of different serif and sans serif typefaces, some distorted, thus generating a diverse and variable contrast within the "Art Nou" sign. These typographies are placed on a base form, a blurry with variable gradients that give rise, on the one hand, to a "mother" identity where the form is blurred by the gradients themselves and their background, and a "daughter" identity that flattens the chromatic palette of the gradients of the "mother" identity.
